Local press started sharing the draft of the cannabis law, supposedly composed by different documents: One regarding hemp regulation and another one about the medical cannabis license prices, etc. Instead, however, we find one document, an incomplete description of what will be the growing process, as well as processing and selling hemp with industrial, food and medical purposes, all containing no more than 1% THC.
We've collected the headline evolution from last Wednesday, starting at 1:52 pm and towards 4:54 pm, where they began with "Hemp and medical cannabis industry will start on September 9th with the bill signature". And ended with talking only about industrial hemp:
A few things stand out:
1. No one mentioned the medical purpose the law is giving to hemp, which was known as therapeutic.
2. Days later, on Twitter, we keep finding the incorrect headline:
Communication is a serious profession that carries a lot of responsibilities. We hope people in Costa Rica do better research to build a strong hemp industry.
What is going to happen with the medical cannabis law? It would be ready in 8 months, as the ex-congress lady who created the second cannabis bill said:
Update: After speculation about the absence of guidelines to regulate the medicinal purposes of the importation and production of cannabis with high percentages of its psychotropic compound (THC), this week was announced that it is in public consultation: Draft regulations - Law No. 10113.
